How we handle your data

Your organization’s data stays yours. Here is how we treat it on every project.

It stays in your name

Hosting, databases, domains and passwords are set up in your organization’s name, so you own them from the start and never depend on us to get at your own data.

Only what the work needs

In Discovery we decide together what the app stores. Sensitive records, such as information about the people a nonprofit serves, are kept to the minimum the work needs.

Access by role

Staff, volunteers, board members and crews each see only what their role needs. You decide the roles.

Protected in transit and at rest

Apps are served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we use hosting providers that encrypt stored data.

Backups

We set up automatic backups with the hosting provider and show you how a restore works before launch.

Donor systems and other software

Connections to Bloomerang, Salesforce, QuickBooks and similar systems use their official interfaces, with permissions limited to what the app needs. Bloomerang · QuickBooks Online · Salesforce Nonprofit

During the project

We work with sample data or copies wherever we can, and sign a confidentiality agreement on request.

When the project ends

You receive documentation written for the next engineer, and we remove our own access whenever you ask.
