Salesforce Nonprofit integration
Connect a custom app to the Salesforce your nonprofit already runs, whether that is NPSP or Nonprofit Cloud, now called Agentforce Nonprofit.
Short answer. Yes. Salesforce Enterprise Edition and above include REST API access, and the Power of Us program donates 10 Enterprise Edition licenses to eligible nonprofits. A custom app can work with NPSP (contacts, households and opportunities) or Nonprofit Cloud, now Agentforce Nonprofit (gift transactions and commitments).
Which Salesforce do you have?
- NPSP (Nonprofit Success Pack): packages on top of Salesforce’s standard objects. Donors are contacts in household accounts, and gifts are opportunities. Salesforce still supports NPSP but no longer adds features to it.
- Nonprofit Cloud, now Agentforce Nonprofit: Salesforce’s current nonprofit product, with dedicated fundraising objects such as gift transactions and gift commitments.
We work with either, and the plan from Discovery says which objects the app reads and writes.
Does our edition include the API?
Enterprise Edition and above include API access. Salesforce’s Power of Us program donates 10 Enterprise Edition licenses to eligible nonprofits, so most nonprofits on donated licenses can connect a custom app.
What do clients use it for?
- Volunteer hours and program activity recorded against the right contact (volunteer scheduling)
- Board and funder reports that combine gifts with program data (impact reporting)
- Staff or volunteer screens that are simpler than Salesforce itself
- In-kind gifts logged from an intake app
How is access controlled?
The app connects as a dedicated integration user with only the permissions it needs, so its access can be reviewed or switched off in Salesforce at any time. How we handle client data.

Should we move from NPSP to Nonprofit Cloud first?
Not necessarily. A custom app can work with either, and a move is a project of its own. We can plan the app so it is easy to switch later.
Do we need a Salesforce developer as well?
Not for the connection. If you are also changing your Salesforce setup, we work alongside your Salesforce admin or partner.
What does it cost?
Discovery is $1,500, and most projects cost $8,000 to $80,000. You get a fixed price in writing before the build starts.
