Subcontract iOS development

iPhone and iPad apps for agencies and product teams: native Swift and SwiftUI, or React Native when Android needs the same app, taken all the way to the App Store.

For agencies whose client has asked for an iPhone app, and for teams with a web product and no iOS developer. White-label, in your repository, under your client’s Apple developer account.

Short answer. We build and update iOS apps white-label, in Swift and SwiftUI, or in React Native when the app must also run on Android. That covers the screens, the connection to your back end, TestFlight builds for your client to try, and App Store submission under your client’s developer account. Rates are agreed in writing.

Native Swift or React Native?

It depends on the app, and we will tell you which we would choose and why. Swift and SwiftUI suit apps that lean on the iPhone itself: the camera, health data, widgets, background work, or new iOS features as soon as Apple ships them. React Native suits apps that need to be the same on iPhone and Android, built once and maintained once. If an Android version is coming later, that is worth knowing at the start.

What does the work include?

  • Screens built to Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, or to your designer’s files
  • Sign in with Apple, push notifications and in-app purchases where the app needs them
  • Offline use, so the app keeps working without a signal and catches up later
  • Connection to your existing API, or a new back end if there is none
  • Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and contrast checked, so the app works for people who rely on them
  • TestFlight builds for your client to try as the work grows
  • The App Store listing, screenshots, privacy details and submission

Can you take over an iOS app someone else built?

Yes. We read the code, get it building with the current version of Xcode, and give you a plain list of what is sound and what is risky before changing anything. Then we pick up the features and fixes your client is waiting for.

What if App Store review rejects the app?

It happens to every team, and handling it is part of the job. We build with Apple’s review guidelines in mind from the start and fill in the privacy details carefully. If a submission comes back, we read the reason, make the change and resubmit.

Questions

Whose Apple developer account does the app go under?

Your client’s. The app, its listing and its certificates stay in the client’s account. We are added as a team member, and removed when the work is done if you ask.

Does it work on iPad?

It can. We design and test for iPad when the app needs it and say so in the plan, because iPad layouts are real extra work.

Can you design the screens too?

Yes. Our team does UI and UX design as well; see subcontract UI design.

Does an App Store app cost more than a web app?

Yes. An App Store app needs extra work for review, signing and updates, so it is priced on top of a web app.

How is iOS development priced?

By the project or by the hour, at a rate agreed in writing. Tell us what the app needs to do, and we will reply with a price.
