Luke Nielsen
Cofounder of Sarasoris with his wife, Abigail. Designer and developer in Colorado Springs.
Luke has worked with nonprofits and local Colorado Springs businesses on UX/UI design, web development and mobile apps, and cofounded Sarasoris with Abigail to build custom apps for organizations that have outgrown spreadsheets.
Experience
- UX/UI design: research with the people who do the work, wireframes, interface design and testing
- Web apps in React and Next.js
- iPhone and Android apps in React Native
- The backend behind them
At Sarasoris
Luke leads design and development at Sarasoris. Projects are contracted with Sarasoris LLC, and the company’s work is described on the services and case studies pages.
Sarasoris builds one app, on phone and web, around the way a team already works: scheduling and dispatch, inventory and reporting. For nonprofits that often means volunteer scheduling, donated goods inventory and board reports. For agencies it means white-label design and development.
What Luke cares about
- Starting with the people who do the work, before any screen is designed
- Designing the screens first and testing them with real staff, while problems are still cheap to fix
- One app that does a few things well, over a large system nobody uses
- Saying so when a product you can buy today would do the job better
- Plans, prices and progress written in plain English
Recent work
Three Sarasoris projects for TogetherWON: a fitness app made for older adults, with user research, UI and UX design, testing and the frontend built from the approved designs; a product video made while the app was still being built, used to gather feedback; and a 250-page website built for search. Read the case studies.
