## Subcontract UX design

User research, flows, wireframes and usability testing, for agencies and product teams that need to know a product works for the people using it before it gets built.
For agencies whose clients want research they cannot staff, and for product teams that ship features and hope. We plan the research with you, run it under your name, and report what we found in plain language.

**Short answer.** We do UX design white-label: interviews with the people who will use the product, task flows and information architecture, wireframes, and usability tests with findings your team and your client can act on. Research runs by video anywhere and in person in Colorado Springs. Rates are agreed in writing, per project or by the hour.

### When is it worth bringing in UX help?

- Your client keeps asking for features, and nobody has asked their users anything.
- A product has launched, and people are not doing what it was built for.
- The users are unlike your team: older, less technical, short on time, or on a phone in the field.
- You need findings a client will take seriously, not opinions from a meeting.

### What does the work include?

- A research plan: what we need to learn, from whom, and how
- Interviews and observation with the people who do the work
- Task flows, journey maps and information architecture
- Wireframes of every screen, reviewed before visual design begins
- Usability tests of prototypes or the live product
- A findings report: what we saw, how much it matters, and what to change

### Have you designed for users who are hard to design for?

Yes. Our [Senior Fitness App](https://sarasoris.com/case-studies) was for older adults, so type, contrast, touch targets and wording all had to work for people who may not see, tap or read an app the way younger users do. Research came first, each round of designs went back to users before the next one started, and the designs changed with what they told us.

### Who talks to your client’s users?

We do, under your agency’s name, with your client’s permission and on their terms. You can sit in on every session, and recordings and notes are handled the way your client requires.

### Questions

#### Can we buy UX research without the design?

Yes. Research and testing can be a project on their own, with a findings report at the end.

#### How many people do you test with?

Enough to see the same problems come up again. For most usability tests that is a small group each round, then another round once the fixes are in.

#### Can research be done remotely?

Yes. Interviews and tests run by video anywhere, and in person in Colorado Springs.

#### What do we get at the end?

A short report of what we found, ranked by how much it matters, with the notes behind it and the wireframes or changes we recommend.

#### How is UX design priced?

By the project or by the hour, at a rate agreed in writing. Tell us what you need to learn and who the users are, and we will reply with a plan and a price.
