## Subcontract software development

Full-stack developers for software teams with more signed work than people: a feature, an integration or a whole app, built in your codebase and your process.
For development shops, consultancies, product studios and in-house teams. We can join your sprints as extra hands, take a defined piece of the work, or build an application to your specification.

**Short answer.** We take on software work white-label for agencies and in-house teams: front ends, back ends, APIs, databases, integrations and mobile apps. We work in your repository, your tickets and your review process, write tests and documentation, and never approach your clients. Engagements are hourly or fixed-price, agreed in writing.

### Which way of working fits your team?

- **Extra hands in your sprint.** We pick up tickets from your board, open pull requests that follow your conventions, and join your stand-ups and reviews.
- **A piece you hand over whole.** A module, an integration or an admin tool, specified with you, then built and handed back with tests and notes.
- **A whole application.** From your specification or your client’s, we design the data, build the back end and the screens, and deliver it running.

### What do we build?

- APIs and back-end services
- Databases and data models, including moves off spreadsheets and old systems
- Sign-in, roles and permissions
- Integrations with services such as [QuickBooks Online](https://sarasoris.com/quickbooks-integration), [Salesforce](https://sarasoris.com/salesforce-nonprofit-integration) and payment providers
- Admin tools, dashboards and reports
- Web front ends in React and Next.js, and mobile apps for [iPhone](https://sarasoris.com/subcontract-ios-development) and [Android](https://sarasoris.com/subcontract-android-development)
- Background jobs, scheduled tasks, imports and exports

### How do you fit into an existing codebase?

Quietly. We read before we write, follow the patterns already in the code, and keep pull requests small enough to review properly. If something in the codebase is going to slow the work down, we tell you and suggest a fix, but we do not rewrite what is not ours to rewrite.

### How will we know where the work stands?

Short written updates: what is done, what is next, and anything that needs a decision from you. Work lands in your repository as each piece is finished, not in one big drop at the end, so you can see and test it as it grows.

### What happens after handover?

The code comes with tests, setup instructions and notes on anything unusual, so your team can carry it on. If you would rather we stay on for fixes and changes, that is agreed in writing along with the rest of the engagement.

### Questions

#### Do you work in our tools?

Yes. Your repository, issue tracker, chat and build pipeline, on accounts you give us.

#### Do you write tests?

Yes. New code comes with tests at the level your codebase already keeps, or at a level we agree on if it has none.

#### What if the requirements change?

They usually do. On hourly work we pick up the new tickets. On fixed-price work we price the change in writing before doing it.

#### Will you sign our NDA and contractor agreement?

Yes. An NDA is signed before we see anything, and we are happy to work under your agency’s contractor agreement.

#### What time zone are you in?

Mountain Time, in Colorado Springs, with good overlap for teams across the United States.
