## How a custom software project works

Most projects run in four stages, and each stage ends with something you can hold. If a different shape suits you better, we work that out together.

### Discovery

We sit with the people who do the work, in person in Colorado Springs or by video elsewhere, and write down what actually happens, including the parts nobody would put in a manual. Most clients start with one module; the plan shows how the rest would follow.

#### What you receive

- A written plan in plain English
- A fixed price for the build
- One number we agree to improve

#### What we need from you

- Some of your staff's time, spread out
- Access to the current spreadsheets and forms
- One person who can make decisions

### Build

We build in the open. There is usually a new working version on your own devices each week. You use it; we correct it.

#### What you receive

- Working software, usually every week
- A short written note on what changed
- A running list of what is left

#### What we need from you

- A short check-in each week
- Honest reactions, especially the unflattering ones

### Deploy

Your data is moved and your staff are trained: on site in Colorado Springs, by video elsewhere. The old system stays on standby until you say otherwise.

#### What you receive

- Your existing data, moved and checked
- Training: in person in Colorado Springs, by video elsewhere
- The old system kept intact as a fallback

#### What we need from you

- A quieter stretch for the switch, if you have one
- Some staff time for training

### Outcomes

Supported live running. We measure the result against the number we agreed at the start and report it to you in writing.

#### What you receive

- A results report
- Full documentation, written for the next engineer
- A check that every account is in your name, and our access removed when you ask

#### What we need from you

- A conversation about whether you want ongoing support
