# Bloomerang Integration: Custom Apps and Reports | Sarasoris

## Bloomerang integration

Bring your Bloomerang donor data into a custom app, and send the app’s activity back, so nobody copies numbers between the two.

**Short answer.** Yes, a custom app can connect to Bloomerang. Bloomerang has a public REST API, using API keys or OAuth 2.0, that covers constituents, households, donations, pledges, interactions and custom fields. Bloomerang Volunteer syncs with the CRM on its own, so volunteer data is reached through the CRM.

### What can connect?

Bloomerang offers a public REST API. Through it a custom app can read and write constituents and households, donations, recurring donations and pledges, interactions, notes, tasks, funds, campaigns, appeals and custom fields.

### What do clients use it for?

- Board and impact reports that combine giving with volunteer hours and program activity ([impact reporting](https://sarasoris.com/nonprofit-impact-reporting))
- Recording volunteer shifts or program participation against the right constituent ([volunteer scheduling](https://sarasoris.com/volunteer-scheduling-app))
- Logging in-kind gifts and acknowledgements from an intake app
- Keeping a custom app’s contact list in step with Bloomerang

### What about Bloomerang Volunteer?

Bloomerang Volunteer syncs with Bloomerang’s CRM on its own, both ways. We did not find a separate public API for Bloomerang Volunteer, so a custom app reaches volunteer information through the CRM.

### How is access controlled?

Bloomerang supports private API keys for server-to-server connections and OAuth 2.0 for apps that act on a user’s behalf, with scopes that separate standard access from editing financial data. We request only the access the app needs. [How we handle client data](https://sarasoris.com/data-handling).

### Questions

#### Do we need a particular Bloomerang plan for the API?

Bloomerang’s pricing page does not say which plans include API access, so we confirm it with your account during Discovery.

#### Will the app change our donation records?

Only if you want it to. Reporting apps usually only read; financial edits need a separate, explicit permission.

#### What does it cost?

Discovery is $1,500, and most projects cost $8,000 to $80,000. You get a fixed price in writing before the build starts.
